About Us

Happy and Healthy Dorset Sheep…

Located in Smithsburg, MD, Ridgetop Farms is home to a flock of Dorset sheep, including 210 ewes and 10 rams.  The farm was started by the Martin family, after some years of having dairy and beef animals, with the idea of being able to include our children with the care and record-keeping of the sheep.  We use mostly horned Dorset rams, though some of their ewes are polled. 

We specialize in healthy sheep without feet problems or genetic issues.  Our sheep are mostly run on 60 acres of pastures with managed rotational grazing, which keeps the parasites to a minimum.  We typically lamb between November and January and have lambs available for sale in the spring.
