I was in desperate need of a Farrier, since I fired my last Farrier for inconsistent appointments, and attitude towards my sheltland pony, (he's a handful). Anyway, Marty and his 2 helpers came out and was very through and explanatory about each horse and pony. (I have 2 ponies and 2 regular size horses). My Shetland foundered under the care of my old Farrier and nothing was said, Marty explained what can be done and what to expect going forth, that was the first time he was out. Just last week he was out for the 2nd time, he was the same, forthcoming with information and answered any questions that we had. I would recommend him to anyone who is in need of a Farrier.
His prices are what you should expect out of a excellent Farrier, after all you get what you pay for. If your like me, and your horses are just an extended part of your family, then price isn't an issue. I an totally in awe the work that Marty has done. My sheltland could barely walk prior to bringing Marty on, yesterday in the pasture this pony which was almost dead lame 2 months ago, was bucking, rearing, and running around like there was nothing wrong. Just that alone speaks volume to me. I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone that is in need of someone who knows what they are doing.

I was desperate, and in need of a skilled, qualified and dependable farrier immediately. See earlier this year on April 6th of 2023, 3 of my 4 horses were in great need of a farrier. My horses required someone whom was trained in their profession to help with my horses newly discovered equine hoof care needs. It all happened at once. BAM!!!!! On April 6, 2023 What a day to remember. Three horses were darn near dead lame. One horse was diagnosed with IR aka Insulin Resistance and another one of my horses was diagnosed with Cushings Disease,, and my third horse was diagnosed with High Ringbone. I was fit to be tied not knowing what to do next, and I was in a panic. These medical situations that were diagnosed by my now current veterinarian of record Gustavus Veterinary Clinic, in Gustavus, Ohio required the immediate attention from a professional farrier.
It would be so beneficial to your horse or horses if folks out there only realized how important regualr routine hoof care maintenance truly is, and how essential it is to your horse’s health. The saying is true ..... "No hoof no horse." Regular trimming and in some cases, shoeing even specialty shoeing can help keep your horse sound and performing at his or hers best and to also assist in helping the horse to be more comfortable if needed. So as I see it having a skilled and professional farrier that works well with your horse and is willing to meet their individual needs is very important for your equine companion and for the owner as well. What I also find to be of great importance is to choose someone who is easy to communicate and get-along with. This should include conversations regarding the owner’s goals, your farriers goals, the horses' needs and the owners financial state, and receiving documentation in the form of a receipt for your personal records as well as for your farriers records as well. Your farrier should be willing to discuss and explain the trimming or shoeing process if need be.
Also it is vital to make sure your farrier is easy to reach during an emergency situation. Farriers and horse owners should be willing to work together cooperatively and be able to share a mutual respect. They should also be available to work with and communicate with your veterinarian of record so everyone including your equine buddy is on board and on the same page. Remember, communication is key. My current vet and my farrier Martin Miller collaborated together to devise the perfect treatment plan and course of action that was best suited for my 3 horses.
In closing I'd love to mention that I was very lucky to have ran across Mr. Martin Miller APF-1 from Middlefield, Ohio. He does top notch quality work, he is very professional and skilled with getting up underneath a horse big or small he's got your horse's hooves covered. I feel very confident and comfortable with Mr. Miller and his 2 outstanding apprentices Matt and Jamie. Thanks guys you all ROCK! And a big SHOUT OUT goes to Flaming Forge Farrier Services in Middlefield, Ohio my horses are doing beautifully and I couldn't be happier. Marty Miller in an exceptional blacksmith. He customized hammered forged iron brackets and a leg for us for a bathroom vanity. He goes up and beyond with the the quality of his work in a timely manner for a reasonable price. You will not be disappointed.
