Ok , I work with Amish and Mennonite businesses in 5 states and have for 20 years. Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, PA., and New York. I have over a million views for the businesses I work with, comment or review. So when I was referred to this place I did not foresee any issues. It turns out I should have taken pictures of my equipment I brought to them to tune-up. Said they have expertise for my 1934 Singer 29K58 leather sewing machine, so I dropped it off last week and they called yesterday as it was finished. The price for my tune-up was very fair and I was confident and comfortable that my machine would be fixed and in the same condition I brought it in to them.
So sadly that was not the case. My dang near new 1000 yd thread spool was looking worse than a baitcasting rod and reel in the hands of a 4 yr old- see pic, and looked like half the thread was gone. Paid $25 at Weaver Leather for that. Additionally the spindle for the thread spool was a steel one when I brought it in, and now has a plastic one that is about an inch shorter than the original! I have saved for this machine since 2020 and it’s really fairly new to me- so believe me, I know what I brought in!The sad thing is if I had taken pictures, then the owners response that the spool was like that when I brought it in and he also said there was no spindle either would certainly be a falsehood. I’ll be lucky if I can salvage a quarter of that spool. The gentleman did ask me what the thread cost and I said $20 plus dollars, which he did then deduct $20 of that from my tune-up.
So my 1st experience there- HORRIBLE.
I’m assuming that the tune-up was done properly which was my goal. We’ll see shortly.
But for the owner to lie to me about my spool and spindle- not cool, and is why I should have taken pictures before I left my machine.
Will I go back(?) is a good question, and being that it’s relatively close to me would make it advantageous for me to do business down the road- can’t say- I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
I know many Amish leathercrafters (leatherwork being the reason for my machine)that can refer me elsewhere I’m sure.

Been trying to get my spool untangled. It’s not happening. I’m thinking it was dropped on it’s top, thread fell down and they scooped it back up and back on the spool- can’t get any longer threads off the top- all seem to be stuck at the very bottom and keep tangling- GREAT! No sewing tonight!

I was delighted with this shop! Great selection of fabrics at reasonable prices. Also spoke with a young man about a sewing machine problem, he was so friendly and helpful. I look forward to visiting here again, it will be a favorite!
