I live in a very rural area of Upstate NY. Sadly, we only have a Walmart near us to purchase sewing notions and fabric. While we are grateful for that, it is not a true quilt fabric quality shop. Valley Housewares' fabric selection is wonderful! Notions for quilters are rather limited, but those are available at Walmart. Martha was our store clerk when we went yesterday, 10/21/25. What an absolutely delightful young lady. At just 17 y.o., you would feel sure she was older and more experienced in the shop! Not only was she very sweet and kind, she was efficient and accurate with her fabric cutting.
The fabric selection is very good ... some complete lines of a particular fabric. The fabrics I purchases were all Moda or Benartex ... quality! Prices are quite reasonable, given the general price of quilting fabrics these days. No bolt that I picked up was $10 ... all less. There was a 10% off on a cart of fabrics ... 10% isn't a great discount, but it made the fabrics just that much better in price. Availability of the fabrics was very good, not many bolts that were down tot he last measurement. I will return!!
